Can this happen on its own or it's been cut?

Hi everyone!

I am moving houses and while packing, I noticed a cable to my portable fridge, which I believe was perfectly fine some months ago, is snapped in two pieces.

I don't recall it would have any damage to it when I bought the fridge, but I might have missed it. It's been sitting on the same spot for 3 months, and when I needed to unplug it, I would unplug it at the socket, on the other side. Unfortunately I haven't used it for some time so I can't even trace back when it happened.

Does it look like it has been cut or it could be damaged by accident and it simply snapped? A sabotage by a flatmate could be a possibility here, and that's why I am asking about it 🤫
