Reference picture regarding different manga and ereader sizes (for possible purchasing decisions)

Just some pictures that may help people deciding which ereader size to buy for reading manga.

With exception of the first picture, I did them on the fly the last couple weeks for random commenters, but still added them because they may get helpful (or not) regarding buying decitions.

Exclusively unlit b/w ereaders, different time of day / light condition can make the screen of b/w ereaders look way differently (from almost like real paper to meh).

For some reason, I never thought of including a 7" device in any of the pictures, not even today when making the first picture - likely because 7" sits right in the middle between 6" and 8" (so easily imaginable).

That's it.

InkPad 4 update + update-fix

Not that long ago, PocketBook released an update for the InkPad 4, which added - besides fixes - magazine-support for Libby & FLAC-audio support also a reworked task manager (two modes available regarding thumbnails - also see 2nd picture);

it was stated in the update-log, that it was now possible to swipe up from the button to open the task manager - which didn't work. This has now been fixed in a 2nd update, which has the same changelog as the previous one, but (seemingly) just fixes the previously not working "swipe up to open taskmanager"-feature.

As always, it may take some time until this update reaches the other devices.

PocketBook Era Lite | Carta 1300

Differences of the Era Lite compared to the Era (according to the informations I was able to gather):

  • Carta 1300 panel
  • IPX 4 instead of IPX8
  • No Audio speaker (second picture may be a a wrongly rendered picture - officially it doesn't have a speaker)
  • No USB Audio / USB OTG support (BlueTooth is still present)
  • 204g instead of 228g (likely mostly caused by the lack of a glass front)

Rest should be the same, so same battery size, RAM, storage. Only the dual core CPU has no mentioning of clock speed on the product page (should at least be the same - but no guarantee from my side).

I asked specifically if the panel has a sunken screen, and according to what I was told, it indeed seems to have a sunken screen (likely to reduce production costs).

Current price: 199€ (vs. the 229€ of the Era)

I don't know how widely available it is, but expect it to be more widely available in the future.
