I read that the higher seed who picks their opponent, also gets to pick the lineup of their opponent? Can someone clarify what that means?

I can hit a roll consistently and sometimes a flick if it’s a right ball, but wondering how to hit this? I see people doing this even when they’re poaching, they’ll run and hit this and it’s nasty. Or if the dink is popped up they’ll use it. Is it different from a flick? I can only seem to do it on high balls if I’m at the kitchen. When do you choose this over a flick? Or perhaps it is a flick and I’m getting it mixed up?
So I played against someone (game was low 4.0+) who at the kitchen, their cross court bh dinks are mostly chop slice drops. To me, those seem risky because it seems more wristy, but he’s able to get it in low with lots of pace. What is the best strategy against these? Normally I would twoey bh topspin a slice, but these are low with high pace.
