white saviorism??
(originally commented this on the deleted post from yesterday from a “family friend” but curious about others thoughts)
any thoughts on the racial component (for lack of a better term) of this. It seems like their parents do make the effort to keep their kids in touch with their birth culture (Celebrating holidays, having cultural food etc). At least for the camera. But staying in touch with your culture is more than one holiday a year and having their birth cuisine occasionally.
I’ve always wondered if Jude and Liam had any close, good, CONSISTENT Black/Ethiopian/African role models, family friends etc. Just based on one of Liam’s birthday posts that had rhetoric like “finds his identity as a child of God” and that it’s his “heritage”.
Everyone’s mental health struggles/behaviors/personalities are obviously the result of lots of different things, but I can’t imagine it was easy to be adopted, struggle with height/growth, be a middle child and have a medically complex brother, live in an RV for a little bit and THEN also figure out how to navigate the world as a young Black/ Ethiopian boy.
