Time to say goodbye...
Welp, as we all do, I hoped I never had to see this day come. Our little guy, Somen, isn't doing so well. He's been fighting insulinoma for 2 years and got his first implant in March for adrenal issues. It seemed to work for a couple of months and then got worse so they put a second implant in last month. His cataracts are getting so bad that he's blind. Ultrasound shows he has a large adrenal gland on one side and the other is odd shaped, plus many lumps on his pancreas. Bloodwork shows liver issues. Mast cell tumor on his shoulder blade. And to top it all off when we adopted him he already had spinal issues so his back legs are weak. He's a mess. But he's been the sweetest ball of issues you could ever ask for.
Now that you're sad with me, I need some advice. We don't have a vet that will do in-home euthenesea. What do you all do in this situation for the surviving brother? Do you take them with to the appointment? Bring the body back home for closure? What happens after you have the body home? Nothing seems like the right decision. They aren't well bonded at this point. Once the illnesses started piling on they kind of drifted apart. We never see them interact anymore.
