Why is my inground pool pump having trouble maintaining suction?
A few weeks ago we moved into a house with an inground pool. The pool was closed up for some time. We’ve done a bunch of work to get it functional again, but the pump is acting up. It will suck water like it’s running fine, then all of the sudden, it’s like it gets a bunch of air in the line and stops sucking water, even though the pump is still running.
I checked the flapper on the skimmer, and that’s functioning just fine. I also checked and lubricated the gasket on the pump filter basket area.
When it’s drawing water, it seems to be pulling fine from the skimmer, then suddenly it just…won’t, and the skimmer fills up with water.
First time with an inground pool. What could be causing that?
