Public Drinking
Im coming back from a 3 month backpacking trip around europe, and one of the things im going to miss most about europe is being able to relax by the river or at the park with a bottle of wine and just unwind. It seems ridiculous that im confined to my house, sure you can always go out to a patio but the patios that have good proper views make you pay out the ass for a beer.
Id really like to know the background on why open liqour laws are the way they are here, why we implemented them in the first place? Id love to go for a walk around assiniboine park and just enjoy a drink, and thats a crime??
Maybe europe has ruined my perception on drinking in general, is it that its more common and less abused? It doesnt seem that way after being here, you still get the occasional drunken nuisance but its so rare and just such a non-issue. It just seems almost childish. Just want to know some other winnipegers opinion on the matter. Cheers!
