My wife and her friends are absolutely mortified when I admitted that I have taken several bowel movements in the lake. You're out swimming or on a boat for a few hours, what are you going to do? Hold it in and be uncomfortable and just not enjoy life? Or do you tread water and just let her rip as mother nature intended? It's not like this is someone's pool, their property that they own. No this is all our lake, and we should all be able to comfortably go number 2 without worrying about being prim and proper. America.

Edit: To clarify this is while you're already on/in the lake. If you're on the beach then yes, go in the restroom/woods.
