To my OA peeps, do you guys have clients from countries other than the U.S.?

I’m getting conflicting information on that. A lot of my clients are non-US citizens, and I’d rather book them through OA instead of my other host cuz comms are better for me and perks are better for them for the suppliers I book through. Would love to hear your experiences, successes and challenges. TIA.

Another fraud question

Thankfully I haven’t been victimized, but it’s good to have awareness of potential scams that could quickly wipe out a lot of hard work in an instant. Aside from the classic one of feigning urgency and needing to fly within the week or a few days, and then paying with a stolen card, what other scams should we all be on guard against?

Has anyone ever been the victim of a fraudulent chargeback?

I have not, but I’m curious to know if you have, how did you handle it? Was it hard to win? Did you sue the fraudster? What was the outcome?

This one is for Outside Agents members: Has anyone used the OA platform (is it MAG?) from outside of the U.S.?

I talked with a representative from OA about joining, and he said that I would have to be physically located in the U.S. (which I currently am not, for most of the year) to be with OA. He said the software or platform they use doesn’t work outside of the US. Now that got me wondering, what about when U.S.-based agents go on their own travels out of the country and need to stay connected to their work and clients, who may also be traveling at the same time? Are they not able to use the software/platform? If you *are* able to use it, do you think that the representative may just have been misinformed? Or is it simply OA policy to not bother with U.S. agents based outside of the states? TIA.

Does anybody know if WorldVia accepts U.S. citizens as agents if they’re not physically located in the U.S?

I havea host, but I’m thinking of a switch. I had like what OA has going for it, but I was told that I wouldn’t be able to access the platform if I’m not in the US. Does anybody know if this is the case with WV? Any other suggestions for HAs that do accept agents living outside of the US? TIA.

Has anyone here switched from having a host agency into going it alone?

If you have, was the transition gradual?

Did you get your own IATA or CLIA first while still under a host, then go case-by-case as to which clients you would book with your host’s IATA and which one with your own, maybe based on supplier?

Did you start to form your own relationships with certain suppliers while still having a business relationship under your host’s accreditation?

Was it hard to get competitive commissions on your own, or did you start at a reasonable level and scale up?

Where’s the point beyond the break even point (split comms at higher pct = full comms at lower pct minus expenses) where it was worth it to have done it that way?

I’m still a bit green at this, and not thinking of doing this anytime soon, but would like to have a roadmap for the future. Thanks a bunch.

Hey all, booked for said cruise in September. This will be my first time in Galapagos and first time on NG/Lindblad. Anything I need to know about? Galapagos-specific, NG-specific, and Galapagos on NG-specific advice all welcome. TIA.
