Moving to Brescia next week — apartment hunting 🏠

Ciao tutti! I’m a Canadian engineer moving permanently to Brescia next week for work, and I’m currently looking for an apartment (ideally Centro Storico/Brescia Due area).

Does anyone know a good local real estate agent/agency I could contact once I arrive? Or perhaps a landlord/contact looking for a reliable tenant? Any local connections or advice would be hugely appreciated!

I tried idealista and immobiliare and contacted 30+ lisitings from early July to now, but I barely got any responses. I was able to get 1 or 2 contacts of real estate agents, but everything is still up in the air and nothing is confirmed.

My Italian is still very much a work in progress 😅, so an English-friendly agent would be a bonus - but I’m learning and can get by with the basics!!

Grazie mille and looking forward to calling Brescia home! 🇮🇹

Mi trasferisco a Brescia la prossima settimana - cerco appartamento 🏠

Ciao a tutti!

Grazie mille e ci vediamo presto a Brescia! 🇮🇹

Brescia Questura – First Permesso di Soggiorno for Working Holiday Visa: what is the actual process?

Hi everyone! I'm moving to Brescia soon (arriving on August 25, 2026) on a Canadian Working Holiday/Youth Mobility visa and I'm getting conflicting information about the first Permesso di Soggiorno.

Official information seems to say Working Holiday permits are handled directly by the Questura, rather than through the usual Poste Italiane kit. However, other guides/posts say to do the postal kit first and receive a Questura appointment from the post office.

I've tried calling the Brescia Questura Ufficio Immigrazione several times with no answer and have also contacted local immigration assistance offices.

For anyone who has done this recently in Brescia:

• Did you go directly to the Questura or use the postal kit first?

• How did you actually book your first Questura appointment? PrenotaFacile doesn't seem to list Working Holiday.

• What documents did they actually ask you to bring?

• Is temporary hotel accommodation in Brescia sufficient before finding a permanent apartment? (I have a hotel booked for 2 weeks. Finding a permanent/long term apartment is another struggle I have to deal with later....)

• How long did you wait for the appointment/physical permit?

Is there anything I should buy/prepare immediately after landing at MXP (e.g. marca da bollo, passport photos), or can I easily get everything in Brescia?

Any recommended Patronato/immigration office in Brescia that actually helps with this process?

Mainly trying to make sure I follow the correct procedure within the required 8-day period after arrival.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the Brescia Questura recently (or I guess any Questura really at this point...), especially with a Working Holiday/Youth Mobility visa. Thanks!
