Netflix’s impact on Housing Market
Do you think Netflix’s impact on our housing market is overblown? Everyone I know who is (struggling) looking for a house just says “it’s because of Netflix” but is it? Everywhere you turn someone is saying “it won’t be affordable for long!” But it really hasn’t been affordable for some time now. I’ve lived here my whole life (nearly 40 years) and bought my own place about 6 years ago and the market was chaos then just as is it now. Is it possible people just really want to live here? Especially with our easy connectivity to NYC and so many return to office mandates? Can we really blame the current demand squarely on Netflix? Maybe I’m misinformed or perhaps people just like to blame someone for how hard it is to find a house right now.
