76 in 55, Ulster Town Court / Lake Katrine
It was my first time driving in the Kingston area, and I thought I was on the thruway where the speed limit is 65. Sadly, I was mistaken.
This is my first and only ticket ever (and also my first time getting pulled over). I’m now facing 6 points and am kind of freaking out. Obviously, I’d love to get it reduced to 0, but I spoke to an attorney who told me that a ticket like this in this particular court won’t get reduced to 0 points and that 2–3 points is probably likely.
Obviously, that’s not what I wanted to hear, but I’m trying to figure out what’s actually realistic and whether it’s financially worth hiring a lawyer or if I’d likely end up with the same outcome handling it myself.
Can anyone share their experience with this court or with getting a speeding ticket reduced there?
Also on a related note, the ticket already came with what looks like a supporting deposition, but the plea part has the option to request one? Should I just go ahead and request another one when I plea not guilty?
