First image is from Coolah Tops, where they grow as an understory with Euc pauciflora (it's over 1000m elevation). Note the long skirts… implies lack of fire. These huge Grass Trees flower really well without burning. The skirts a key habitat for animals like the Pygmy possum.
Second image is of a 14 year old seedling 1.6 m tall + 2 m flowers!) It was planted 2010. Its trunk split after its first flowering (at 7 years of age).
This is a fast growing species!

This is a video of one of the more proactive insect pollinated plants found in Australia. This is Stylidium adnatum, a small clumping plant to about 30cm.
It is fast enough to hit a fly, or native stingless bee (which Australia has over 1200 species)
