Cincinnati show-Damage prelude

Hey folks! The Cincinnati show was so so so good last night!

For those that were there, does anyone recollect what was the melody that she interwove in the prelude to Damage? I recognized it, but my middle aged brain won’t remember it completely!

Specialist cancelled and can’t get in until January

Oh, I’m truly just venting here. There’s nothing to do but feel sorry for myself! I have been trying to find a new allergist that specializes in indolent systemic mastocytosis, or at least has familiarity with the disease. I made an appointment with the local mast cell expert, but he’s concierge only, and I just cannot afford him.

I made an appointment with a different doctor, an allergist who treats mast cell disorders, and my appointment was scheduled for November.

A couple of months ago I got a message in mychart, offering me an earlier appointment for September, and of course, I jumped on it!I was so relieved that I was going to get in sooner.

However, on Tuesday, I got a message that my appointment had been canceled due to the providers schedule changing. Now I can’t get an appointment until January with him.

Finally… Today I got a message that they changed my appointment to a different date in September, however I’m going to be out of town that day. I’m so frustrated. Why does the schedule keep changing??? 😩

Crohn’s Diet

Hey all, you are a wealth of information! My husband has Crohn’s and has for 30 years. He has never tried to manage flares through diet. Please understand, I do not mean through diet alone!! He is on Entyvio as well and we have a referral to the Cleveland Clinic in October. But he is in an active flare and it is causing big problems. He has strictures that are causing constipation and bloat. He’s really uncomfortable.

After reading lots of posts on this site, I’m wondering if there are foods that aggravate it at all. He has been a bit resistant to that idea but is coming along to the possibility that he might get some relief. He looked up the low FODMAP diet and wants to try following it. Has anyone found relief with this plan, specifically for someone with strictures, constipation, and bloat?

US tour

Lucky me, I snagged 2nd row seats for the tour stop in my city. I am a little nervous about it though. I seem to remember on the last tour, there was a lot of standing and dancing happening in the first few rows? I have a bum knee right now and can’t see myself standing for the whole concert. When I got those seats, by sheer luck, not by trying, I couldn’t believe it. Now, I’m having some anxiety about it all.

What can I expect my experience to be in row 2?

Crohn’s and other autoimmune diseases

TL;DR- Is Crohn’s treated with enough urgency and thoroughness in the medical world as Crohn’s patients need it to be treated?

My husband has Crohn’s, and it has recently escalated. He just got out of the hospital for sepsis related to an uncontrolled flare and the flare is in his small bowel. They have to treat the infection before they can more aggressively treat the flare with prednisone. Hopefully, this will start soon. A small camera pill is going to be given next week along with another colonoscopy.

I have a pretty severe life threatening autoimmune disease as well. And I’m honestly kind of shocked at the lack of specialists that he has involved. I had a rheumatologist, nephrologist, cardiologist, and hematologist that I was followed closely by once I got out of the hospital.

He’s been discharged already by infectious diseases, even though up until last night, I was giving him antibiotics through a PICC line. We had to hound his gastroenterologist’s office to get the follow up plan in place. I had doctors hounding me when I was discharged.. making sure I wasn’t going to miss a single infusion, or appointment, etc.

Obviously, I know our cases our different. But he could have died from this uncontrolled flare that had been going on for six months. Bacteria entered into his bloodstream from the inflamed part of his small bowel. Why did no one feel urgency? Except me, because of my history.

I guess I’m sensing that Crohn’s may be treated differently from other life threatening autoimmune diseases and I’m wondering if others see that too and see it as a problem in the medical field.

Recommendations for specialist?

Hi all! My husband is currently in the hospital recovering from sepsis from an uncontrolled flareup of his Crohn’s disease. He had a colonoscopy yesterday, but they were unable to get up into the small intestine where his Crohn’s flareup is. The G.I. said that they couldn’t really get up there anyway, and they were planning on using a small camera in a pill at some point.

He has had Crohn’s for 30 years and has mostly been OK. But this last flareup has been going on for six months and has been uncontrolled. I have been very concerned. He has had anemia, which suggests a G.I. bleed. He has looked gray and ashen at times. But I just haven’t seen a sense of urgency from his doctor in getting this under control. And now he’s in the hospital and has been for many days.

My husband is trusting of his medical professionals in general, which is a good thing, but sometimes I think we need a second opinion as to treatment. His doctors say his Crohn’s is “not that interesting.”

It looks like the Cleveland clinic is a good place to go? Has anybody else been there?

The hot water heater is about to bite the dust. Knochelmann is quoting us 6700 installed for a tankless water heater and 5000 installed for a traditional tank. Looking for experience with other HVAC companies and whether this seems like a good price. A quick search on google suggests a tankless water heater would be between 2500-4500 in 2025 but that is without installation.

Thanks all!
