I genuinely don't like how some poc characters and WLW routes are treated
This is not to bash any author out there or anything, I'm just voicing my own opinion. And for those who will say "oMg Rc ReAdErS are so ungrateful!!" Please zip it, this is not about you.
Okay so first of all, I'm into both men and women and have been wanting to do wlw routes when I saw Agnia and vellora (oh god did I not know.)
First of all you're A WRITER. How can you write 100 different ways to excuse the behaviour of your red flag and make meaningful scenes and backstories with him but can't write the 1 fem li without having her tied to another male?? And can't give her 5% of the importance and screen time of other lis? Like i get fan favourites will have more screentime but the way some lis are sidelined is genuine horror
And secondly, why the hell are the intimate scenes with agnia somehow involving set?(as a set lover myself) I mean can we not just write it the same way as the other 4 male lis? And don't even get me started on vellora like was that really necessary? If I had a nickel for everytime a lesbian character in RC was forced into an uncomfortable conversation/act with a man I'd have 3 nickels which is not much but enough. Liren despite being interested in only women having to kiss a man (and not to forget the solution to this was stupid.) Vellora yk what, and agnia with her romantic scenes AND her truamatic trial, i feel like only fem characters go through this. Really now?
And don't get me started on coloured characters. Waterlily was so beautiful and refreshing for both their poc characters AND wlw routes, it deserves 1st place.
Some of these characters are given light coloured eyes (green or blue, ofc this does not apply if they are mixed/supernatural etc) like those damn photographers who only take pictures of poc people with coloured eyes (some even look better without those flashlights. Cough, saraswati) And it just pmo tbh like it is not needed they look good with brown eyes.. and also the sprites for black mc having to use mostly straight hair in alot of stories, like come on now we have a million hairstyles an episode just put one (again shoutout for waterlily. Also mountain elf tiss being recultantly added honestly made me question if i wanna even continue playing TTS.)
And i feel like the Sprite for black tiss could've been made better after I saw some of the beautiful elves when we went with sha, but then I grew to like it!
Anyways this was just somethings i wanted to get off my chest, sorry for rambling too much. I really enjoy the stories on their own, but things like this make it harder for me. I don't mean to come off strong or anything but i just wish we could have better routes and character representation in the future. I'm looking foward to some of the new fem lis hopefully they are good
