Hot Take: The New 126508 "John Mayer" Destroys the Old 116508 (Change My Mind)

Hot Take: The New 126508 "John Mayer" Destroys the Old 116508 (Change My Mind)

I know the original 116508 green dial is an absolute legend and the literal definition of a hype watch, but can we talk about how much better the new ref. 126508 looks?
The old version was iconic, but the new updates make it look like a completely different tier of watch. Here is why the 126508 wins every single time:
The Subdials: The old tone-on-tone green subdials with the red accents felt a little too festive. The new golden sub-counters introduce a beautiful, "panda-esque" vintage contrast that completely honors vintage Newman dials while still looking modern.
Slimmer Indices: Rolex completely refined the dial layout by thinning out and lengthening the gold hour markers. The old ones look so stubby and fat by comparison. This gives the dial a lot more breathing room.
The Symmetrical Case: Thank goodness Rolex finally fixed the asymmetric lugs. The new straight-cut, symmetrical profile sits flatter and sits so much better on the wrist.
The original had the hype, but this new reference has the actual design perfection.

[H. Moser & Cie.] Drooling over the Endeavour Flying Hours (Ref. 1806-0202) 🪐🔵

this absolute masterpiece in person and had to share a photo. This is the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Flying Hours (Ref. 1806-0202) in 18k white gold.
Moser’s signature minimalism meets pure independent watchmaking insanity here. For those unfamiliar, it uses a highly modified version of the classic "wandering hours" complication, developed alongside their sister company Hautlence.
The way the vibrant blue discs pop against that moody, rhodium-plated grey fumé dial is just unbelievable in person. It feels incredibly modern while honoring a complication that dates back to the 17th century.
For anyone wondering how to read it in this shot: the hour digit 12 is currently sitting right under the 40 on the minute track, making the time 12:40.
Powering it all is the automatic HMC 806 manufacture movement with a healthy 72-hour power reserve. At 42mm, it has a serious wrist presence but sits incredibly comfortably.
What are your thoughts on Moser's take on the wandering hours? Is this a grail piece for you, or do you prefer their ultra-minimalist Pioneer and Streamliner line

Standard straps just didn't cut it. The RM 029 White Gold Diamond on vibrant red rubber

Hey everyone,
Wanted to share a shot of the Richard Mille RM 029 in 18k White Gold with factory diamond paving.
While these diamond pieces usually lean strictly into the "ultra-formal" or "ice-out" category, swapping the factory black strap for this high-vis red rubber completely changes the vibe. It shifts the watch immediately from a safe queen into an aggressive, ultra-modern sports piece that you can actually dress down.
For me, the oversized calendar display at 4 o'clock on the skeletonized dial remains one of the cleanest complications RM has done on their classic tonneau shapes.
How do we feel about pairing pave diamonds with bright sport straps? Total overkill, or the perfect contrast?
Let me know what you think!

If you want to understand why people lose their minds over the Daytona, this is where it all started. This is a vintage Rolex Daytona 6263, and for a lot of people, it’s the most beautiful watch ever made. It’s from a time before these were status symbols—back when they were just manual-wind tools that actually sat on dealer shelves because nobody really wanted them.

What’s crazy about the one in this photo is that dial. It’s what collectors call "tropical." It started out black, but over decades, the chemicals in the paint reacted with the sun and aged into this rich, chocolatey brown. You can’t manufacture that; it only happens with time and luck. It gives the watch a kind of soul that a brand-new piece just can’t replicate.

I’m curious how you guys feel about the vintage vs. modern debate:
