How to not hurt cuticles when strumming with fingers?
I've been really into playing primus stuff recently and other songs that include that sort of strumming technique like some of cliff burton's stuff but I've been facing one major issue that's really making it difficult to progress. When strumming down, the cuticles at the base of my fingernails always hit the strings and it hurts SO BAD. I understand you're supposed to keep your hand parallel to the strings and sort of flick your fingers straight downward and not at an angle but it's a pretty unnatural position for me so unless I pay super close attention the angle will change a tiny bit and then I'm hitting my cuticles again. Is this just part of the learning curve and part of getting used to the right angle? Or am I doing something wrong? I haven't been able to find anything about this or anyone having a similar issue online
