So I crawled out of my hole and attended a club meeting for the first time this month. Learned that we'd be showing member trees at the WI state fair and signed up on a whim. It was a mad scramble to get the tree wired and ready for the show in only a week, so unfortunately, I didn't have a stand or suitable accent ready. Regardless, I got a very flattering critique from the judge, and I just a really great time overall chatting with booth visitors and members.
Funnily, this tree was coming out of kind of a bad winter. Learned a hard lesson about how important the exact position in a grow tent can matter. I lost a quite a bit of ramification and had resurgence of scale, and was feeling pretty down about the state of the tree overall. However, this ended being sort a of a blessing, as removing die back and weaker branches forced me to make tough decisions and lead to some much needed compaction of the canopy.
This tree is very easy to find, if anybody else would like to see it in person. Beetle rock is literally right next to the parking lot for the General Serman tree. Couple minute walk and you are right there. Also, anybody else see 🤘?
Two junipers from nursery stock. First four are one tree and 5 & 6 are the other.
