Post Patch Powwow

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Like:

  • less punishing for being bad and/or experimenting with combos in ranked
  • item adjustments feel fair for the most part
  • fixing the force quit incentive

Dislike:

  • matchmaking still feels wonky. rating aside it seems like the average opponent after match ~6 is either living their best life while i'm in the back of the struggle bus or i blow through all 10 trophies.
  • it's not great knowing at a glance whether you're going to dominate or get rekt
  • sometimes it feels like i'm having a great run but then hit a sudden wall of hard-counters

general insufferable nerdshit suggestions

  • pack idea: giant. slower/stronger weapons span two+ squares
  • pack idea: dryad. thorns damage to counter multistrike
  • pack idea: time. apply slows to enemy attacks / affliction ticks on the player tower

S2 - Not my favorite

Going to get a few things out of the way since I'm seeing the same comments on every post.

  • S1 GM was just a matter of time, not real skill based matchmaking
  • S2 matchmaking not working as intended
  • win/loss ratio currently weighted negatively

What I actually wanted to ask was if anyone feels like the gear progression in the shop and matching item rate is different somehow? It feels like you can get higher rarity gear earlier now but the likelihood of finding matching gear to upgrade with seems much more uncommon than in S1. I'm not just spamming rerolls to force a build but it feels like any approach I take I'm on the back foot for upgrades.

Separately since everything seems weighted negatively against progression it feels like casual mode is the only option for experimentation which is a bummer if you happen to get a good run.

From testing in S1 force quitting the game lost you 100 rank. In S2 getting zero wins loses you more than that. I'm still early diamond so I haven't tested force quitting so let me know if that has changed. Seems like an odd choice to incentivize rage quitting over playing, even poorly. Anecdotally it feels like I lose more games at 2x speed, anyone else?

Overall the individual item changes make sense but the broader meta seems wonky. The 10% rank increases for randomizing don't seem to offset picking stronger/more straightforward perks and decks.

260 hours played so not an expert but I enjoyed the flexibility of S1 and so far the S2 experience has not done the game any favors imo. Thoughts? (other than git gud, etc.)
