19F, 5’8” struggling to gain weight consistently despite having my appetite back
Hi everyone!
My boyfriend is going to the U.S. for two months of work, and I want to use this time to focus on myself. My goal is to reach around 63-65 kg. I’m an avid cyclist (50-100 miles a week), but last year I lost my mum unexpectedly, and that grief contributed to significant weight loss. Oddly, I was actually content with my weight at around 60 kg last year.
I also had some menstrual complications that led me to stop hormonal birth control and start the Mirena coil. My doctor said it would take six months to settle, and only now am I regaining my appetite. Over winter, between grief and the transition, I lost a lot and now sit around 54-55 kg, which I’m not happy with.
My struggle now is consistency. Some days I eat a lot (even up to 3,000 calories), but then I struggle to eat much the next day, sometimes not even hitting 1,000. I’ve noticed that when I do eat a lot, it’s not always healthy, I might log something like sausage rolls, and while they add calories, I know it’s not healthy weight gain. I really don’t want to binge one day and then struggle for the next few, and I’m aware that gaining weight should be about balanced nutrition, not just packing in calories.
I log on MyFitnessPal, but I want to do this right, healthy, consistent, nutrient-dense. I’d love to gain around 5 kg in two months. Do you think that’s realistic? I plan to keep cycling but add gym work (glutes and arms) for shape. Any advice on how to keep calories consistent, and what helped you balance cardio while gaining healthy weight? Thanks so much!
(I also don’t have many photos of myself)
