Ending Theory
The secret ending felt kind of anticlimactic on a surface level. Hugh avoided death, returning to the shelter, but the Black Box only delays the inevitable. So, it's just a treatment, not a cure, right? I think the developers left a very subtle clue about his fate in the Unknown Signal: A reference to the Ship of Theseus in one of the logs.
For those who don't know, it's a thought experiment in which a ship is repaired so many times, that not a single piece of the orginal ship remains. So, is it the same ship, or a new one?
In the same vein, I believe Hugh takes a shot at an experimental procedure: replace the pieces of his slowly dying body as they are corrupted with Lunafilament, purifying the new tissue that is now synthetic. It would require a full replacement of every organic cell with artificial cells, but at a slow enough rate that Hugh never dies. However, we're left with the same question: Is this Pragmata built off a human body, but entirely replacing the orginal self, still Hugh?
