Cataldo 911 Shifts + Driving Experience

Hello,

I applied to Cataldo Ambulance Service. I currently have around 6 months of driving experience and 6 months of experience in a prior private EMS company (got the job very close to the amount of time I got my drivers license). I understand that for insurance reasons/other reasons, they require a minimum amount of driving experience. My first question is, does Cataldo have a minimum amount of years for driving experience?
This question totally depends on if I’m hire-able. From what I understand from research is that they have you start off with 911 shifts (correct me if I’m wrong). Would they have me start off with IFT shifts until I get to a certain point? Also do you have to go through some sort of Paramedic-Basic course to get on ALS 911 shifts? Is there BLS and ALS specific 911 shifts?
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and if you do, send an answer!

Experience With Pro EMS?

Hello. I hope this is the right flair.

Anyways I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with Pro EMS whether that’s being employed or going through the interview process. I have a couple questions.

How competitive/difficult does it take to be hired?

I’ve heard people are overworked, is that true?

How difficult is it to get through the FTEP?

How often do you get IFT calls?

For shifts do you go back to a base? Or do you stay in the ambulance the whole time? Does it depend on how long the shift is?

Thank you for any answers.

How To Know If You’re Ready For Working on an Ambulance?

Hello.

I am 6 months into a private EMS service that does IFT and occasionally 911. I’ve realized that I am not fully ready to work on an ambulance. I came in with less than a month of having my drivers license, no driving practice during orientation, and the first time I drove was when the ambulance was patient loaded. I had trouble during ride time. I was given 6 ride time shifts before they said if I don’t improve within the next two I will be fired. I did my ride time with minimal feedback and an FTO that made me extremely insecure and nervous.

The reason I’m saying all that is because I do not feel I was prepared properly and also I went into the job at a disadvantageous position. I’m trying to get a job as an ED Tech, if I get an offer I’ll put my two week notice in.

My end goal is to work 911 calls as a paramedic. I am just not sure when I will fully be ready to get back into an ambulance. My current threshold is to gain at least 1 year of driving experience. Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry this is such a long post.

Thank you very much.
