New Lifx Mirror Pics / potential day one hardware issues
Howdy all! I was very excited after 6 months of waiting to install my new Lifx mirror!
The attached pictures definitely don't do the product justice. It looks great and the colors are awesome!
Overall, install was pretty easy. It was larger than I imagined even though I loosely measured the space beforehand, and is about a large as I could go in my little bathroom. I removed an existing light fixture and hardwired it.
Similar to other hanging things that require two screws installed level and at an exact dimension, it was a little rough for a few minutes while my girlfriend and I worked together to hang it without scraping everything up. I'd suggest Lifx consider adding stickers that show where those hangers are located on the front of the mirror (they'd pull off when the clear wrap is pulled off).
Because of some subway tile I ended up overlapping the lower edge over the tile, otherwise it would have looked like an oversized mirror that was hung too high.
This style of hanging does result in some unwanted light bleed from the backlight, however I was pleasantly surprised to be able to tweak the frontlight and backlight using zones! I can turn off or turn down the backlight and/or turn off the lower zones to reduce light spillage.
Unfortunately I'm already seeing issues with the touch sensitive buttons - so far I've checked for any firmware updates (none yet) and almost opened a ticket with Lifx support (decided to come here first). The touch sensitive buttons seem to activate themselves (humidity?). Both of us have noticed the mirror was on when no one turned it on, and same for the defog feature (the light turns red when it is on, so it's super obvious). I'm worried about that feature staying on when it isn't in use. Initially I thought "some of my automations might be doing this, gotta troubleshoot that" (I'm heavy into tweaking things and have Home Assistant) but per research, I believe the antifog feature can only be enabled manually.
At the moment, I'm glad I saved all my packaging. Hope I don't regret ordering the first wave out of manufacturing. There's plenty of detail about these being expected to be used in wet locations in the documentation.
Anyone else with the mirror seeing the light and defog come on unexpectedly?
