Tooth infection causing sinusitis on both sides?

I've had sinusitis for 2 months on both sides, and recently identified I've got a failed root canal so got it redone today. The endodontist who did it said it's rare that a bad tooth would cause sinusitis on both sides so the root canal retreatment might not fix the problem.

I'm gutted that I might not have found the source of the problem after all. Has anyone here had sinusitis on both sides that was caused by one tooth?
