Have a homeless patient with a bad diabetic foot wound that podiatry recommended a wound vac.

We arranged for SNF to do wound care with his wound vac, but patient is refusing and just wants to stay in the hospital. He’s been here for two weeks with a wound vac.

I’m a bit fed up, thinking of removing wound vac and giving him some wound care supplies to take to a shelter rather than have him waste space. Am I being unsafe?

This is my day one with him. Two of my Hospitalists colleagues just let him sit here with a wound vac. Really annoyed me, but I’m wondering why they let him do this.

I’m a new GI fellow starting in July in a new program. My PD has been open in having me go to any endoscopy course/conference for my education. Any folks have recommendations which ones to bring to the attention of my PD? Any folks have any particular recommendations they think helped for their first year?
