Rare Renal Solitary Fibrous Tumor Looking for Advice

Hey All!

I (27m) had surgery on Sept 22nd to remove what we thought was Renal Cell Carcinoma. The pathology came back, and I was diagnosed with a Solitary Fibrous Tumor. Somehow one of the local lymph nodes was also involved, but removed as well.

I was looking optimistic, but now I am getting nervous about recurrence and what the rest of my life may look like. Anyone have experience with this kind of cancer or something similar? I am hoping for a positive prognosis and support is welcome. Thank you all!

Anxious About Final Pathology

Hey all! I (27m) posted a few days ago about my surgery. It took place yesterday morning and I got home about 36 hours later. I have a weird scenario that I would love some insight on.

I received a biopsy before my surgery but it came back as “inconclusive” but the pathologist noted some spindle cells. After my radical nephrectomy(plus one lymph node), the surgeon noted that he doesn’t think it is RCC. The surgeon and the fellow both think the tumor looks more benign and even had more fat on it than the scan showed. That being said, I am still really anxious about the whole thing. I understand it could be several diagnoses(including sarcomas). Anyone have any similar stories that can help ease my mind? Thank you!

27M Incidental Finding Looking for Advice

Hay All!

I (27m) had an incidental finding after a CT scan about a month ago. I have a 4.5cm mass on my kidney that every doctor thinks looks like RCC. Because of my age, I received a biopsy and am waiting for the final pathology to come back. As of now, I have robotic surgery scheduled for September 22nd. The surgeon told me that he will attempt to do a partial nephrectomy, but due to the location, a radical nephrectomy is more likely.

Here is my real question: for those of you that went through something similar and have had some time since your initial diagnosis, what has your life looked like? Anyone else go through something similar at a young age?

My surgeon says that I should be able to have a normal life after surgery, but I would like to hear from the you all to see if that hold true.

(Also, any advice you have for surgery preparation would be much appreciated)

Thank you all!
