Just Moved In - Home Network Setup a Mess
I just moved into home, built in 2006. This is what I walked into. I have 3 ethernet cords (yellow, white, and blue) connected to a router on the floor. The yellow line is my main internet line. The blue and white ones going down are for my office room and living room ethernet ports. Both of which I’m actively using.
My issue is: I have 4 rooms upstairs, all with one ethernet jack available. There should be 4 other ethernet lines here. I see 5 available here but 4 of them are hard wired to this Bridged Telecom Module (no clue what that is) and there’s an open ended one just hanging out (the purple one).
What do I need to do here to activate the ethernet ports in my room? Disconnect all the hard wired ethernet wires, hook them up with RJ45 connectors, and plug them into a switch + my router?
