Solo Hiking South Rim Trail or Emory Peak

Good morning! Curious on if hiking either of these trails in the dark is considered extra dangerous alone and generally advised against - or is it probably okay with the proper precaution?

Camping at Chisos and planning on starting one of the hikes around 4am.

Also happy to hear recommendations on which one to hit!

Possible Campsite Available (5/23-5/25)

Hey guys! My wife and I are taking our 1 yr old camping on Memorial Day weekend 5/23-5/25. We secured 2 campsites because my sister and her partner were going to join us but they very likely cannot make it so we may have an available campsite next to ours! Just DM if you’re interested in grabbing it from us! Of course no additional fees - just over the nightly rate!

Hey everyone. New to camping. Young family just starting out. 5 yr old and a 1 yr old.

I have been looking at different options for flooring - as we are going to do some dessert camping this summer (Texas! ).

I do have a tarp footprint for my tent already for underneath it - and I also have plenty of foam pads from my home gym I can pack up. My question is - can I put the footprint down then put those foam pads on that tarp and then the tent in top of all that? Anyone tried that method?

I’d just rather not have those pads sliding around inside the tent but there definitely might be some things I’m not considering!
