I have a client who often references a particular Bible verse and will say all of their trauma following their sin is punishment, just like this verse. It's pretty significant trauma, but it seems we're stuck until they can move past the idea that this trauma is God punishing them. I'm not religious myself and unsure of how to challenge this thought without (probably) being rude or ignorant.

I'd love to hear how others navigate situations like this, resources that were helpful, really anything. Thanks!
