Spending $10K+ on a Pure800 build. Tell me what I got wrong
2019 X3 M40i, Gen1 B58, 30k miles, driven on the weekends in downtown Chicago. Previously ran MHD Stage 1 E30 with xHP Stage 3. I wanted more and dealer flashed me back to stock, so I’m restarting.
Build plan, targeting 550-600whp on E40/E50:
- Pure800 Gen1
- Active Autowerke catted DP (Illinois OBD test)
- Dorch DS25 HPFP
- VTT Gen1 PCV cap
- New plugs?
- MHD flex analyzer + custom flex map
- xHP Stage 3, looking at a TCU torque taper too
Skipping LPFP and not building the trans, no PI, and no driveshaft upgrades. I’m looking for improvement mostly for rolls from 20mph+ and highway on-ramps, I'm not launching it all the time.
Tires are at 3mm so they're getting replaced either way, and factory spec is 245/50R19 squared. I was going to put DWS06+, no second set, no storage.
Is a 245 tire a weak link at this whp or does xDrive handle it? I can live with traction issues if it’s at a full stop launch. I just don't want to spend $12k and find out the tires needed to be wider or ran on summer and winter sets.
Anything missing from the list that I'll regret cutting or should cut? I’m estimating cost with labor included.
If anyone has Chicagoland recommendations, I’m all ears too. Thanks!
