Backyard Beavers

I live with the wetlands backed up right to my apartment. Walk a few yards over to the edge of the property and there's a nice walkway through the wetlands. Saw two beavers one evening. First time seeing one in the 6 years I've lived here.

At first I thought they were more nutria but then I saw their flat tails poke out of the water! Love me some beavers.

Kendama Club @ School need advice

I'm a middle school teacher who played Kendama in college. I was never very good and fell off once I graduated but loved them as study breaks or a good way to help reset my mood.

I brought some 10 plus year old kendamas to school for my students to play with once they finish their work and it's really cool to see how excited they get when they see improvements in their ability.

Does anybody have any experience with participating in or running a Kendama club? I'm kind of nervous making any intentional efforts to establish one considering they could easily be turned into weapons very easily.

Unconventional California Road Trip

Did my first long road trip in the Kona EV 2025. Let me tell you about it.

I was visiting family in Tahoe and because my family is from California I've driven I-5 plenty of times. I wanted to try something new and planned out a trip down the "back roads".

The drive down ended up being 14 hours long. I don't drive the most efficiently but that was a doozy. Once I got to Reno I felt terrible but I was nearly done.

Drive back up I ran into a hiccup. I took highway 89 to visit Plumas and Lassen. I didn't realize the Tesla charger around 4 Corners was Tesla-only. Thankfully I charged JUST enough in Chester to make it through Lassen (Lassen's chargers were under repair). I had to choose between going my planned route, Northwest to Mount Shasta or playing it safe and going southwest to Redding. I utilized the regen breaking to get myself to a charger in Redding. I wasn't sure if going uphill to Shasta would leave me stranded.

Because of the detour I ended up staying in Medford for the night and finished my drive the next morning.

I would recommend doing this trip, but triple check your range and charger availability. Also if you have a second person to help break up the driving it would probably be way better.

Anyways, proud of my little Kona for handling such a big drive. I learned a lot about long trips in an EV.

My main gripe is that having the charging door on the front led to some gross splatter.
