Is a score recheck worth it?

I got my Step 2 CK score back and got a 225. I’m honestly completely broken and devastated.
My NBMEs and Free 120 were consistently predicting 250+, so seeing a 225 feels really off to me. I knew the exam was difficult and I definitely made mistakes, but a 25+ point difference from my practice scores feels like a massive drop.
Has anyone gone through a Step 2 score recheck? Is it actually worth requesting, or is there basically no chance of the score changing?
I know score rechecks rarely lead to changes, but I’m having a really hard time accepting this result because it feels so different from how I was performing before the exam.
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has requested a recheck or had a similar experience.

Should I even apply? Non-US IMG

Hi everyone,
I’m a non-US IMG (YOG 2025) and I’m planning to apply for General Surgery this cycle, but after getting my Step 2 score I’m seriously questioning whether I should even apply.

Step 1: Pass
Step 2 CK: 225
YOG: 2025
4 publications
25 conference presentations
3 LORs
2 US clinical rotations
Non-US IMG
Interested in General Surgery

I know 225 is not a strong Step 2 score for General Surgery, and honestly, I’m extremely disappointed and broken. I’ve already invested a lot of money into this process, and now I’m not sure if it makes sense to spend even more on ERAS applications.
I’d really appreciate some honest advice. Do you think I have a realistic chance of matching General Surgery with this profile?
If you were in my situation, would you still apply and take the chance, or would you not apply at all and save the money?
I appreciate any kind of advice

Should I even apply? Non-US IMG

Hey everyone,
I’m a non-US IMG (YOG 2025) planning to apply for General Surgery this cycle, but after getting my Step 2 score, I’m honestly questioning whether I should even apply at all.
My profile:

Step 1: Pass
Step 2 CK: 225
YOG: 2025
Non-US IMG
4 publications
25 conference presentations
3 LORs
2 US clinical rotations
Applying for General Surgery

I know a 225 isn’t a competitive Step 2 score for Gen Surg, and I’m honestly pretty crushed. I’ve put a lot of time, effort, and money into this, so I’m trying to be realistic before spending even more on applications.
Do you guys think I have a realistic chance of matching General Surgery with this profile?
If you were in my position, would you still apply, or would you not even apply and save the money?
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from IMGs who matched into Gen Surg or people who know the process well. I’m honestly pretty lost right now and don’t know whether I should keep going with this or reconsider
