PSA: Do NOT remove MMCX with your hands/fingers. Use an MMCX Removal Tool

Most MMCX connectors are held by either glue or drilled into plastic. Often the MMCX connection (rated for 500 mating cycles) is stronger than the adhesive or the threading on plastic earbuds. If you continue to pull apart earbuds from cables with your fingers gripping the housing/stem, eventually the MMCX connection will fall out.

These MMCX removal tools pry apart MMCX connections. They only apply force to the connector itself, not to the adhesive or threading to the earbud housing.

Most bigger brands will include this tool with your set if it's an MMCX terminating earbud/IEM. However, things like FENGRU DIY earbuds on Aliexpress do NOT include these tools. Luckily, these are fairly cheap on aliexpress or Amazon. I find these generic plastic tweezer style to work best. If you don't have one, you can attempt to pry apart MMCX connectors with a paper card, though this is much more difficult.
