SANDBRIDGE: Make floating sand/water bridges in vanilla minecraft

SANDBRIDGE: Make floating sand/water bridges in vanilla minecraft

Playing with sticky pistons to make falling blocks float, and a flying machine that will help speed up building bridges made out of these blocks that really shouldn't be floating that way

SKELECOM: Unlimited distance wireless redstone and teleportation

I didn't like having to rely on thorns armor with the Skeleporter so I've redone it so we change where the skeleton is looking and use that as our signal

In case any of the hermits wanted an elevator that goes down instead of up

Little bulkier than the brockavator but I'm sure there's room for it in the silo :)

Scar: If you want some more height and reliability out of your shop elevator I know a guy who can help

The launcher you have is pretty good, but sometimes it isn't powerful enough and almost got doc killed 😭 this one might be a bit safer

0-tick basalt farm in Minecraft 26.2 snapshot 3

I dug into the code that caused the bug mentioned here https://www.reddit.com/r/technicalminecraft/comments/1u405si/list_of_things_to_collect_before_262_update/ and found we can use it to speed up basalt farms.

Placing a lava bucket on soul soil next to blue ice creates basalt, and in 26.2 snapshot 3 it doesn't consume the lava bucket, so it can be reused indefinitely. We can use this for a basalt generator that reuses the same lava buckets instead of using flowing lava.

Float align players and push them through blocks (preview)

I've been playing with entity conveyors and I discovered a way to float align players. This is a short demo, full explainer to come later

Instant player elevator

Inspired by the path/farmland elevator, this abuses the mechanism where an entity will "step up" when it collides with a block. I've used a fence gate so there's enough room for the player to fit between if the pistons are half-extended (might be unnecessary and could be done with bottom slabs if we're 0-ticking everything), and the idea is that each piston is pushing a block that pushes the player up onto the previous block, so you can go as far as you want in a single tick.

TNT survival tip for Skizz: turtle potions

Potion of the Turtle Master 2 gives you 80% damage reduction and lets you survive a direct TNT explosion with no armour. With armour you'll survive even bigger explosions (e.g. a respawn anchor used in the wrong dimension...)

Instant elevator on docm77's Patreon server

This is inspired by the "instant conveyor" that the hivemind were involved in a while back. All the ones I've seen go sideways, this one goes from diamond level nearly to the surface. Built in survival on docm77's Patreon server, it gets a bit flaky after sending you around 80 blocks but the entire thing happens in a single tick. Ugly slimestone and way too bulky to use for anything practical but was fun designing it and then putting it together in survival.

The C-team/cub launcher works pretty well, but you can add more height with a couple of tweaks:

  1. Standard 4 dispensers + pressure plate
  2. 4 dispensers but you're standing on a wall so you get launched higher (wind charges explode in the middle of the block and wall puts your feet half a block off the ground
  3. 4 dispensers, pistons pushing the wind charges into you (they don't hit you if they get pushed into you so they explode at your feet
  4. 6 dispensers, pistons pushing the wind charges into you

You can do more complicated things, doc has some good tips and tricks but you'd have to ask him very nicely to share with you :)

I'm looking to get into posting more, wondering if there's a standard everyone uses or if there's a mix, more interested in free than in selling organs to pay for adobe

I've been working with windcharge-powered iceboat highways but even blue ice creates problems, it has slipperiness 0.989 which means you're still losing 20% of your speed every second (meaning you're at 10% of your original speed after 10 seconds), so unless you want to burn 50-100 wind charges for each launch it's not viable for going long distances (e.g. 2000 blocks in the nether to get to your wiske farm).

Using hockey puck sulfur cubes (fed with packed/blue ice) means your friction is 5% of what it is normally, meaning after 20 seconds the sulfur cube is still going at 80% of its original speed. This means we can use a fraction of the wind charges we were using before and stay at the high speed for longer. Needs more testing but we can probably go 2000 blocks in around 10 seconds using 10 wind charges.
