Hot End Question

SO . . . I upgraded to hardened steel nozzles. I found a pair of hot ends on amazon, which came with 4 nozzles (.02 -> .08). The throats on these APPEAR to be copper (at least copper colored). I've since borked one, and I'm looking to add a few backups.

Here is my "issue". The original kit I ordered is unavailable. I found a new three pack, with nozzles already installed (.02 -> .06), hardened. The throat appears to be a stainless steel, with a PTFE tube in them.

So my question, as I'm predominantly a PETG guy . . . What is the difference between a "copper throated" with no PTFE tube, vs. a "stainless throated" with PTFE tube? I've spent a lot of time optimizing my default settings for the copper / no PTFE tube, and I don't want to have to "redo" all of my calibrations.

Hardened Nozzle Hell

So n00b here. I had a clog and I went to clear it, and yeah, broke my hot end. Who knew that you had to release the hot end /s. 590 hours of flawless(ish) prints and now this.

(I have rinkhals, haven't installed it, I'm an engineer and want to fix my print issue BEFORE making THAT change. Also, Not looking to replace the bed NOW, but a Funsor is in my sights, again . . . one change at a time.)

Anyway. I purchased https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FK5RTKTB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 , figuring that now was as good of a time as any to throw away the brass and upgrade to a hardened nozzle.

What I have done (in no particular order, kinda):

  • Replaced the nozzle (duh).
  • Heated nozzle and tightened it.
  • Ran PID for "everything" (set nozzle as hardened steel in my S1. Calibrated it, and re-calibrated my bed).
  • Changed Anycubic slicer printer profile to "hardened steel" (from brass).
  • Tried Z Offset at 0, 0.2, 0.005 with no noticeable difference.
  • Upped my temps by 10 for using a hardened nozzle (250 first, 240 other).
  • Filament has been drying for 12 hours.

Current settings:

  • Firmware 2.7.0.9 (I'm not upgrading yet . . . seems like there are too many issues)
  • Bed temp is 80 first, 75 other.
  • Flow Ratio .95
  • Pressure advance .8.
  • First layer fan speed 0
  • Remaining layers 100
  • Nozzle looks "clean" (no build up that could catch, I've heated to 250 and cleaned with a ball of aluminum foil)

I "exclusively" print in PETG. I use the Jayco PETG from aliexpress (kinda hard to beat $70 for 10kg). I still dabble in PLA when its tchotchkes for the kids.

I can't print PETG to save my life . . . I'm either getting under extrusion or over extrusion within the same print. The PETG is not "sticking" to my PEI plate (and yes I've cleaned it to ensure there are no oils on it)

I'm using https://www.makeronline.com/en/model/Bed%20Leveling%20Test%20(Cool%20Squares%20Pattern)/281729.html?trackModuleType=6 as a test print.

I'm absolutely looking for help. But please don't just sling . . . go set this to that and that and that. I'm a (recovering) software engineer, so a little explanation will go a long way with me.

I appreciate the time.
