MEET SIGURD ❄️
The formation “Winterkind” is all new characters: Sigurd, his sister (Sigrid), and her husband (Jimmy).
They manage the family business, one of the oldest in the village: a whiskey distillery that’s a front for shadier stuff.

The Coven isn’t the only classic group from prior games making a comeback: the Chill Hill is here too.
Many chars are getting a new winter-like outfit, like Wanda here. Still, they will wear their regular outfits when possible (like indoors).
The Chill Hill is a good formation to reveal early, as it allows us to remind you that while most formations are formed by 3 recruits, a few are of 2 recruits and 4 recruits, like this one here.
Also! Note that while The Coven and this one are “existing groups”, most formations are just recruits together because of lore, theme, or just vibes.
Note: we might simplify the outfit a tiny bit; maybe just removing the glove covers.
First confirmed recruit. Joy makes it easier to explain the idea of formations, for her formation is “The Coven”. It is formed by 3 recruits, and there are no surprises on who those are :v But some other formations won’t be so easy to predict! 😏
There's romance in "Monster Prom 5", even if it's not the main focus.
There's 8-12 chars who you can bond with, have intimate conversations in the hot springs, and interact with in a "good relationship" event (those that feel like a date).
Also, of course, Vera and Miranda have all that + some plotlines of their own.
At 1st we weren't sure for the other NPCs, if plotline or "romance content" (conversation; good relationship event); but we thought the romance aspect is something more basic in the players' wants.
So we focused on "romance route" (convo + GR event).
But we're wondering... if we could do more content for post-release (no guarantees!!), what would people prefer?
- Some chars w/ romance ALSO get a plotline (depth)
- Some nw chars get romance routes (width)
We're also holding this poll on our official Discord Server, where you can also discuss this and all other kind of MonProm stuff:
https://discord.com/invite/monsterprom
NOTE: please understand and remember it might be we end up NOT doing any of these two options (for instance if we feel like quickly moving onto the next game)
But in case we found ourselves with time and resources for extra post-release content, better to know what people prefer
EXTRA NOTE: remember that while we take polls very into account, there's several other criteria that may end up weighing quite a bit, like we may end up realizing one of these is way more costful and hard to do. Still, results of polls play a role when we discuss this stuff.

This is the current form of a recruit profile.
You can pause and check this stuff.
You can check which team has recruits from a specific formation.
You can also see the “trait” of a recruit and see how many recruits with that trait each team has.
While there’s many formations (average of 3 recruits per formation), there’s 8-9 traits total and all the recruits have one trait.
Even with the recruits and teams and all that stuff, the core of the game is the same as ever: narrative events filled with lots of comedy and charismatic characters! ❄️
"Monster Prom 5: Monster Retreat” revolves around the idea you’re helping either Vera or Miranda to find recruits to join your ranks.
The main turns will take place in a map with 5 LOCATIONS. Each location will display 2 RECRUITS. You choose a location, then a recruit, and a narrative event will trigger (which works like any usual event in our games).
Think of how in “Monster Prom 3: Monster Roadtrip” you chose first a location and then one of three actions, and that triggered an event.
You always get the recruit you pick (there is no fail state for that, so both teams get the same amount of recruits), and the event is about helping them, so you choose between 2 options & manage your stats (in this case it’s TEAM STATS, shared between players on the same team).
The actions here are placeholders, but you can see an example of choosing between Joy or Nu.
Each recruit has one stat associated to them (you get a plus on the stat by end of run), and they are part of two types of grouping.
One is the FORMATION, which gives bonus if you get the full set (The Coven). The other we call TRAIT for now: after a minimum amount of recruits w/ the same TRAIT you get an incremental bonus per extra recruit w/ the TRAIT. Joy’s is “Death before Decaf” (she really likes coffee).
Essentially? Core of the game is the same: navigating lots of comedic narrative events where you choose one of two options. But like in MonRoad, we use the same basis to build a somewhat different experience.
You can go all in on the specifics of this design (playing more strategically, calculating how to outmaneuver the other team by optimizing yours), or you can ignore all that and focus on having a fun time by laughing at the absurd situations we throw at you. Your choice!
(But remember our strength and focus is to make this a comedic narrative game first, so don’t expect the most strategic game ever).
What you think? 👀

“Monster Prom 5: Monster Retreat” revolves around a snowball war. It is still a narrative game about choosing options and managing stats; but here the big “event” is said snowball war.
The two factions facing each other are the one lead by Vera and the one commanded by Miranda.
You’ll be helping them by getting recruits to join your ranks.
Which side are you picking? 👀
Soon in October we have a fun update for “Monster Prom 4: Monster Con”; but what if we used September to start talking a bit about Monster Prom 5 (to be expected by late 2027)?
Are you excited about it? 👀
We always like doing different flavors for plotlines. In this case, we wanted to include a lore-heavy plotline that felt EPIC.
Did you like this one?
Did you know “Monster Prom 4: Monster Con” has an alternative version of the credits song made especially for this ending?
This one is such a special plotline, with all kinds of stuff, from spoopy moments to Karl Marx, now in balloon form. Exciting!
Did you like meeting “The Funky Bunch”? Would you like to see ‘em back in future games?
