Free activities and locations
My mum has recently come out of hospital after some health complications, and I’d really like to take her out for a gentle day around Canberra as she has been wanting to get out of the house.
I’m looking for recommendations for free or low-cost things we could do together (she is currently on the pension and money is tight), especially places that are easy to walk around, sit down when needed, and enjoy at a relaxed pace.
I’ve already thought about the Portrait Gallery and the museum, but I’d love to hear any other suggestions, nice indoor places, gardens, scenic spots, quiet walks, or anything else around Canberra that might be suitable.
Also open to affordable food or café recommendations nearby if anyone has any favourites.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: thank you to everyone who gave recommendations! They were incredibly helpful and we had a wonderful day. I made a list of the responses we didn't get to try so we can do it in the future.
