Queer Party/Social Stuff
Been going to the Con since the 80s, and it was such a big deal back in the day to have the Saturday night gay->queer panel and social before the Masquerade to find other out and closeted fans and pros and way to see each other. No shade to the current state of the panel, but as the world has changed where we’re not such a niche community anymore in fandom and in the industry, and man, we’re everywhere.
So even though I plan to go by on Saturday to check things out for the discussion and (probably) the auction, what I REALLY want is a gathering that’s just for fun, meeting new people, having a drink maybe, and just being effing gay. I know it’s the weekend after SD Pride, but I want to be around a more geeky crowd and I don’t plan on going to the festival.
I imagine there’s nothing in Gaslamp, but are there any known Comic-Con offsites at bars or cafes or even unofficial gathering spots in or around the convention center that fit this bill?
