Please help a non-theatre kid (me) with her theatre project!
Hey everyone! I hope this is the right place for me to ask this, but I need some help with a project I'm working on for one of my classes. First of all, I'm not a theatre kid, so I genuinely don't know how to approach this topic without any help from people who know more than I do. Therefore, please don't mind any false things I say here!
Basically, I have to hold a presentation about the topic: "Theatre: Beyond the Stage" and cause some sort of discussion at the end by thinking of a creative activity. Now, I totally don't know anything about theatre, let alone anything that goes on behind the scenes. The only theatre-related thing I have ever watched was the Hamilton musical, but I can't think of any ways to do something BTS related to that. I have researched a little bit, and the chandelier drop in the Phantom of the Opera musical seems like something I can work with; maybe I can talk about the precision and importance of perfection when that scene happens? Just imagine there are some technichal difficulties, and everything goes wrong! (Also, this actually happened a few decades ago, which is very shocking). Other than that, I thought of a one-man-show (is that even a thing?!) because I have seen Cynthia Erivo do something like that before. But again, I have no clue how to connect this to the main topic of my class, which is "Beyond the Stage".
As you can see, my mind is a bit foggy and I don't know how to collect my thoughts at all. I am in desperate need for some help from people who know a lot more than I do, so please don't hesitate to throw your ideas in!! Thank you so much ❤️
