strawberry custard tart

strawberry custard tart for my lover's birthday. couldn't get a clean slice pic because we had to eat it at the park after it was in a cooler bag for a few hours (as you can see by the last pic it was kinda melting) but i can assure you it was absolutely scrumptious

small sourdough victory

a couple months ago, i finally decided to start my own sourdough starter (ha) and since then have baked about 4 or 5 loaves with it, which have mostly turned out not so great. edible, sure, but a little gummy and not sounding hollow on the bottom, etc. this time, i decided to halve the amount I've been attempting and bake it in this smaller loaf pan and it turned out the best of all my attempts so far. next time i might go for a 2/3 size just because, as you can see, this didn't really fill the pan. but I'm so glad to have finally gotten some decent bread here and am very excited to eat some with my lunch :-)

nobody can stop me from making scones

friends came to visit so i made for them 2 chocolate chip and pumpkin seed scones (the dough of which had been sleeping in my freezer for a while) and 2 rhubarb scones, and this time i actually remembered to add sugar to the dough. rave reviews

total baking bonanza lately

in order: croissants, pulled pork and cheddar stuffed buns, scones (rhubarb and double chocolate cherry), and rhubarb and apple jam cardamom buns

all but the croissants were for a local gathering of other foreigners in the area. the bbq buns were the biggest hit by far

quiche!

don't have a recipe because i was just winging it, but it came out pretty tasty! had some store bought pie sheets that have been sitting in my freezer for a while, so this was my clever scheme to use them (still have half of them left though 😩)

accidentally got hooked on making scones

first one is chocolate chip and pumpkin seed. second one is seed, nut, and dried fruit mix from kaldi (just had a little bit left so i mixed it in, but it could've used more)

been tinkering with the same ricotta scone recipe from before to see if i can get it a little more to my tastes. next scone im gonna try to make will probably be candied nuts, but it's gonna have to wait until after i get rid of the 10-14 scones' worth of dough in my freezer
