How to manage growth and first mow?

Our grass started growing but seemed quite patchy so I sowed another small box. The first batch is probably 5/6cm now in places but the second lot of seed is obviously behind.

This was obviously quite stupid in hindsight. When should I mow?

Yes, I seeded during a heatwave. But what now?

I took too long getting the top soil and had to seed in the evening of one of the super hot days over the weekend. I then scattered a healthy (1-2mm) layer of topsoil on top of most of it to protect from birds/heat

I have been watering 5-10 minutes morning and evening and granted it hasn't been a week yet, I'm worrying that germination may never happen.
I planted a handful of see in a small tub that I kept on an outdoor windowsill and that showed some signs of germination under the soil but I suspect it was too compacted/covered for much else.

Assuming that waiting for September/October isn't an option, what should I do? Am I being impatient considering the first 1-2 days of it's life was over 25 degrees? The last 2 days have been much more mild, thank god.

I'm considering watering 3x per day from now and just throwing on more seed that will be less "cooked" and raking it in. I really do not want to roll the dice on some significantly more expensive turf on soil that has only been down for 3-5 days and have it die just to start over again

(Please be gentle)
