Etain B30 with gold hardware by Jim
I don’t usually post my rep purchases, but figured this one deserved a little airtime.
This is my latest bag from Jim — B30 Etain Togo with Gold Hardware — and I’ve been liking it more every time I carry it.
For the longest time I was strictly a 25 guy. Then I started noticing more men carrying 30s and 35s, especially on the runway, and suddenly my 25s started looking a little… tiny. 😂 So I told Jim I was officially entering my “big bag era.”
His response was basically it’s five centimeters bigger. Relax. Fair point.
Ordering with Jim was easy, especially since I’ve bought from him before. At this point there’s no weird formality to it. I tell him what I’m thinking, we go back and forth, he gives me his opinion whether I asked for it or not, and somehow we eventually land on a bag.
I went with Etain Togo because I wanted something neutral that I could pretty much carry with anything. The leather has that soft, slightly relaxed Togo feel and the grain looks really good in person. I paired it with gold hardware because it warms up the grey and keeps the bag from feeling too serious.
The overall proportions were probably what I was most interested in seeing when it arrived. I’m picky about the handle drop on a B30 because if that’s off, I notice it immediately. This one looks right. Handles, body, structure — everything feels nicely balanced.
And honestly, the biggest difference for me is just the size.
The 30 actually holds everything I want for the day without me playing Tetris inside the bag. It still feels compact enough to carry around easily, but definitely has more presence than the 25.
So apparently Jim was right. Five centimeters isn’t exactly a BIG BAG. Am still calling it my big bag era though.
Anyway, here are a few random shots from my first weekend carrying it. Bonus points for the fact that the Etain and gold hardware somehow look ridiculously good with my mocha LV driver loafers.
