Asbestos in flooring?
Hello all!
I would appreciate your expertise and guidance. My family is currently in process of purchasing a house and noticed linoleum once pulling up the carpet in a couple of the rooms. The house was built in the late 60s and I imagine the floors are of a similar age. There are a few pictures for your reference. A corner of the floor was coming up so I flipped it over to see the underside. There are small holes from the staples we removed with the carpet. There are also other holes (dark spots) that were already there before pulling staples. Those had a dark type of dust coming out.
What do you recommend as next steps if it likely contains linoleum? Are we okay to just lay new flooring over the linoleum? Or do we need to have someone licensed come to remove it?
Edit: Location is northeast Indiana. The linoleum is located in the family room, laundry room, and half bathroom (connected to the laundry room).
