Initial learning!

Hey everyone. New to this sub and new to the thought of adding solar to our place.

I live in a 1980s built 3 bedroom with internal access double garage etc. Family of 3. Heatpump. Electric hot water.

Here's a Google maps screenshot with up being north (allegedly)

Garage at the eastern end labeled G

Living/kitchen in the northern end labelled L

Bedrooms bathroom etc in the western end labeled B

Meter box is at the back of the garage labeled X

Wondering everyone's thoughts on where best to put some panels. Not sure what kind of size setup to plan for. Probably won't have a battery as yet.

I drew in a little bit in red which I plan to add a carport to on the kinda of Eastern end of the garage ~6x3m

I imagine this probably isn't the best area to add panels and they're better off on the actual house roof?

Any recommendations on companies to go for in the manawatu area?

Sorry for what is probably a whole lot of dumb questions. Keen as to learn!

Edit: sorry for horrendous post body formatting too.
