Quinault and Mountain Views
Hi Folks! I’m making my first trip to the Olympics and we’ll have about 2.5 days to spend there starting the Sunday after Memorial Day. From what I have read, the Quinault area is underrated and worth a visit, and it’s a bit closer to some of the coastal areas we’re wanting to hit up. However, I’d love to get incorporate some good mountain views at some point. A few questions:
-I read that Hurricane Hill is closed Monday-Thursday this month. Is it feasible to drive there from Seattle on Sunday, get a quick mountain hike in, and then continue west and spend Monday/Tuesday in the Quinault area? Is the road crazy busy on Sunday this time of year?
-are there any good day hikes with views originating within a reasonable distance of Quinault? The rainforest looks amazing but the topography looks a bit less stunning out that way.
With our timeline and the restriction on Hurricane Hill it seems like we might be on a pick-2 triangle of Mountains-Coast-Rainforest to really have time to appreciate it but I’m wondering if there’s a good compromise I’m not seeing.
