LLM-for-Zotero: Asking your own Library live demo

Hi I am the creator & maintainer of LLM-for-Zotero plugin. I'm very happy that this tool has already reached 3.2k ⭐️ and over 680k downloads!

Today, I would like to introduce a new feature for asking questions about the library. I added a new task list on the chat page.

This is a live demo to show you how you can generate a literature review by using LLM-for-Zotero. You can trace all the way how your agent work on this task.

When you ask questions about the library, all the articles within the scope will be included, and then you can click to view the relevance of each article to your question, as well as which specific sections the agent has read. You can directly click to jump to these sections

LLM-for-Zotero is basically an agent system rooted in your Zotero. Please feel free to explore it and see how it can do! (move papers; find new papers; batch work; add tags; extract figures; take annotation...).

I built a plugin to allow you to use Codex, Claude Code or any agent system inside your Zotero library [LLM-for-Zotero]

Hello everyone. I would like to share a Zotero plugin I have developed for a couple of month.

TLDR: I built an agent system to help you better understand papers and answer your questions based on your Zotero library. It supports codex, claude code, and all other models via API. and It's free and open source: https://github.com/yilewang/llm-for-zotero .

I like Zotero. it works well to store my papers, and I can use it to read, cite and make notes. However, in the era of AI, zotero doesn't support any LLM inside it. And ngl, LLM is good at interpreting papers to help me better understand concepts.

I tried many plugins in the market and I don't find one good enough to be used. Either the UI is outdated or the functionality is poorly designed. Why not making my own?

I created a Zotero plugin called `LLM-for-Zotero`. Now it has over 1600 github stars and over 166K download. I really think it can help you on your paper reading and literature management.

I basically put a coding agent inside your Zotero. And I put a lot of effort on UI/UX design to make sure it's aesthetic. For a long time, I feel like people develop scientific softwares don't care much UI/UX design and don't polish the looking of their tools. I think we deserve tools with better design (PhD is already tough! treat us better).

The github repo is here: https://github.com/yilewang/llm-for-zotero . and the manual is here: https://yilewang.github.io/llm-for-zotero . The functionality includes but not limited to:

  • it can answer your questions about paper or your entire library;
  • find relevant papers for you;
  • write beautiful notes for you with original figures from pdf;
  • write codes to solve any problems you may have for your library (i.e., clean your library; tag your paper; using customized skills to do anything a coding agent can do).

It also have a native support to CodeX (via codex app-server) and also bridge to claude code. Thus, if you already have a subscription to those plans, you can directly use it in the zotero. This plugin is a bridge to allow you to use them in your own Zotero library.

Also please feel free to check other demos from readme file in the github repo page!

Thank you!
