We just bought a house built in the 1950s. The popcorn ceiling in the kitchen was peeling and I scraped some off. I was unaware of the potential presence of asbestos. I did an area of about 3 sq ft. What is recommended in this case assuming there is asbestos in the ceiling? The flakes are still on the floor. Sweeping? Vacuuming? Painting the ceiling? Having the popcorn ceiling removed? Is the asbestos debris all over my kitchen now? Is it safe to cook and eat there? Thanks!
