Wife only thinks it could be time because I am unhappy with it.

Almost 31. Never loved my hair even before it started thinning. Have always had a widow’s peak so it took a while to notice the receding but the thinning is clear. It doesn’t always look this bad; my weird curly hair has always changed consistency and appearance a lot based on how greasy/dry/humid/frizzy it happens to be that day. I don’t really use product or take special care of it. Looks noticeably worse I think under bright direct light, like in these photos. Trying to decide if I should try to save it with products or buzz or full shave. Currently visiting in-laws and I do think the idea of surprising my mom when she picks us up from the airport bald in a few days would be funny. The first photos are all taken with a bathroom light just in front of my face. The last 2 photos are from a few days ago out in bright sunlight, to show how it sometimes looks when I’m just walking around. Wife would prefer I kept my hair if not for the fact that she is supportive of my getting rid of it if I don’t like it. One thing I worry about is I have a weird egg shaped head that might look bad bald.

Edit: added details
