Save Citizens Advice Bureau from closure in Wellington
Citizens Advice Bureaus in the Wellington City Council area are facing a threat to their ongoing survival. CAB has been told by the Council - its main funder - that funding is to be slashed by 59%.
This cut would mean that the CAB service in Wellington would eventually have to close, leaving thousands of Wellingtonians without the vital service the CAB provides.
We try to help people with basic legal problems here on Reddit, but social media is absolutely no substitute for regulated in-person advice from reliable lawyers and experts. And fair access to justice is critical for a functional democracy. We regularly refer people to CAB’s in person advice sessions, and share links to their free informative website. So we need your help now to keep our CABs operational.
