For those who left their hometown, gaon. what made you leave, and how long has it been?

was feeling nostalgic about my hometown today. I am originally from Amethi but its been around 14 years since I left my gaon.

I was wondering about others from Awadh.

1.What made you leave your hometown, gaon

2.How many years has it been since you moved away

3.How is life going wherever you are now

4.How often do you go back?

5.Do you still feel connected to your hometown or not

6.one more thing how much do you miss

I would especially love to hear some interesting stories like why you left, what changed after you left, or something you experienced when you went back after many years.

For me, sometimes it feels weird to think that 14 years have passed since I left Amethi.

So, mates where did you come from, where are you now, and whats your story?

Missing home and our classic Awadhi proverbs

M23 I’m originally from Amethi but I moved away back in 2012. For the last 14 years I have been living out here in Amritsar, Punjab.Don't get me wrong, Punjab has been amazing to me amritsar gave me a home so much love and respect. But honestly no matter how many years pass, you just cannot take the Awadh out of someone. Your roots always pull you back.Today, I was just sitting around and got hit by a massive wave of nostalgia for home, the village, and especially our native Awadhi language. I was specifically thinking about those incredibly witty, sharp, and sarcastic proverbs (kahawats) our elders used to throw into casual conversations.

A few ones instantly came to my mind.

  1. Paisa na kaudi bazar jaye daudi

2.ram milaye jodi ek andhar(andha)ek kodi.

3.adha titar aadha batear

4. Pani me hagi toh utraye jarur(i love this one😬)

So, I wanted to ask you guys What are some of your favorite, most famous, or funniest Awadhi proverbs? Please drop them in the comments with their meanings! I’d love to read them and feel a bit closer to home today.

Just a quick note;;; the reason I am writing this post in English is because there are people living outside the region since their childhood, but they still know their roots, so this way they can also understand and get curious to know about their own language
